MARTS RAE preparation class

For those who are taking the exams. MARTS is conducting a RAE class as follows: 

The class will be held at No 3 D, Jalan PJS 1/48 (Previously Jalan Petaling Utama 7) Batu 7 Jalan Kelang Lama, Petaling Utama, Petaling Jaya. (next to England Optical Group). 

Time will be from 10.00 a.m. till 4.00 p.m. 

Limited seats are available as the class can accomodate 20 pax only. 

Date: 22 June 2008. 

Fee: RM20.00 to cover the cost of materials and some charges incurred for the classroom.

Rumah siap, pahat berbunyi!

Had a funny turn-around of the last DXing event at Bagan Lalang. Somehow, ada orang yg dok sakit hati dengan all the fun that we had there .. and starting to messing about .. all these after the event ... grr.. grr.. Inilah macam orang Melayu kata .. "Rumah dah siap, pahat berbunyi". Untuk orang yg berperangai macam ni .. get a live .. you're not needed in the community .. you're just a pest to us .. shoo.. shoo away!!!

DXing at Bagan Lalang

 

Had DXing fun last weekend at Bagan Lalang with few friends from Wilayah V17, Temerloh and few others from around KL. We've had a chance to test a new 3-band YAGI provided for this DXing session by 9M2RS.. Anyway, those who attended the event were: 9W2CIA, 9W2TLB, 9W2POK, 9M2RZL, 9W2RZL, 9W2TKK, 9W2EGG and one SWL. Few friends dropped by at night were 9W2NIK, 9W2RI, 9M2CIA, 9M2/V8BDM, 9M2/V8BDL.

Grand eyeball at 9W2TU house (9W2ITU wedding)

 
    

A group of us from KL gathered at Johor Bahru this weekend for 9W2ITU wedding. We had a grand eyeball at 9W2TU house last night. There were at least more than 50 hams from MARES, JASRA, Pelangi and our good neighbour representing ORARI Karimon and Batam gathered for this grand eyeball (will update with photos taken during the eyeball later when I got back home).

I've taken this chance to cross over the Selat Teberau to get some radio stuffs yesterday too. I was looking for antenna tuner and a new mobile rig, mobile antenna and antenna for my HT. So, spent few hours yesterday at Sim Lim Tower and Square.. there are too many electronics stuffs at Sim Lim Tower and all PC and camera stuffs at Sim Lim Square. Since I don't have budget to upgrade my camera, so, didn't buy anything from Sim Lim Square. I asked R One for ATU before, and they quoted SGD$80 more expensive than at Blazer. So, Blazer is still the best place to get radio stuffs for the best price, and guess what .. spent around SGD$1k there.. what I got from Blazer yesterday:

• MFJ 949E Manual antenna tuner, MFJ claims that this is the most popular tuner they have made.
  
• Kenwood TMV-71A, the latest VHF/UHF dual bander mobile unit. Somehow, Kenwood has changed the design and not following the previous TMV708A that this unit replaces. And he..hee.. somehow, 9W2CCW and 9W2JAZ saw me buying this unit while at Blazer and they got one each for themselves too
• Diamond SG7500 and SGH779 for my HT.
• Supercall magmount which could hold those big Diamond antennas at high speed.
• Opek antenna switch

Today will be the d'day for 9W2ITU. We're going to convoy in a group of three Tritons, one RangeRove and two Hondas from where we stay at the heart of JB and will most probably joined others too in a big convoy back to Kuala Lumpur.

BTM - May, 2008

It has been a while since I attended my last BTM (Beam, Talk, Makan .. or if I remember correctly, it was meant to be Black Thing Meeting). Still remember when most of the members in the PalmX were using Palm based PDA and we gathered around having fun, beaming contacts, talk about all the latest gizmos around Palm based PDA/OS and surely, eating (you pay your own foods! :D)... now, the central topic is no longer Palm based PDA/OS.. many members have migrated to sorry-to-say much better OS and platforms .. expanded to GPS, swiss army toolkits, and some .. back to basic buku 3-5 a.k.a moleskin notebook. We might try to persuade some of them to take up ham radio too :) Will see who'll take the bait .. anyway, here are some of the photos from the BTM.. courtesy of Abedib (err, stolen from his flicker actually .. hee.. hee)..

Antenna installation - Rotor/Rotator + Mast

Thinking hard on how I could bring up my mast + rotator + yagi + 10m delta loop antenna to-be. Found the following diagrams and photos which might help me later on..

1. Load bearing support

2. Roof mount (no idea where I could get this though)

3. Guy ring and clamp, turnbuckles, etc.

Ikea has invaded my home office!

It seems that my new home office to-be, has been invaded by Ikea furniture.

Added as of last Saturday:

4. Two Lindmon blinds of 120cm and 60cm sizes.
